Nico Enrico is a very special Chihuahua.  He came to The Poodle Preserve at 3 months of age in Nov. 2004.  At
that time, Nico was having up to 6 seizures a day.  He was on phenobarbital and potassium bromide, along
with Valium, but nothing was stopping the seizures.  Nico needed around the clock care.  After seeing 5
veterinarians, Nico was diagnosed as having Hydrocephalus (otherwise known as water-on-the-brain). Nico
has once-daily seizures, and  his future is uncertain. Dogs with hydrocephalus rarely live to the age of 2, and
Nico is now 3 1/2 yrs old and thriving.    Nico's zest for living, his sweet innocence, and his loving nature are
indescribable.  He touches the heart and brings a smile to the face of everyone he meets.   I treasure each
moment with this precious Chihuahua.
To know Nico is to love him. I am honored and blessed to be Nico's caretaker.

In both these photos, Nico is modeling sweaters that his
Auntie Marilyn made for him.
Nico celebrated his 3rd birthday on July 27, 2007.  I cannot put in words the joy he has brought me.  While his
future is still uncertain, the present is overflowing with love, and I am much the richer for it.
